Sardar Udam singh ..film review

 

We saw Sardar Udham Singh in Amazon Prime today .

Udham singh was hanged to death in 1940 for having shot dead Former lt Gov of Punjab province British India 

Sir Michael O Dwyer .

The name sounds very similar to General Dyer who ordered the firing of unprotected hundreds in a meeting in Amristar the notorious Jallianwala massacre .

O Dweyer we come to know had ordered gen Dyer to spare no efforts to give a punishment to the Indians which they would never forget .

So though the act was done by Dyer this man ordered it to him and justified it later .

Though most of us have studied on the massacre and I had visited Amristar and gone to Jallianwala bagh itself a memorial park today i never knew about Udham Singh .

This is how our history sylabus full of Tipoos and Aurangazebs and Robert clive and the one and only Nehru had missed out on such a great martyr .

The film is an eye opener and I feel should be shown in all schools and colleges so that our youngsters realise but for Gandhi and the one and only Nehru there were such great men who bought us freedom by giving thier lives .

Ghost story

Happened in 2019 when I was driving back to Cochin from Palghat .

The Kuthiran route was blocked so I came via the more scenic Chellakara route 

On the way I got down for a cup of tea in a remote house cum shop .

As i went in it became darker but I wanted the tea so I went into inner room

I wondered why a restaurant is so deserted and dark .

I could see the rain falling into the green pond through the windows

Did I see a pair of red eyes peering at me from behind a cupboard 

I looked closely saw nothing 

Sat on a chair with a wooden table 

Dust rose from both

Hey whats happening !

This place is haunted

I could feel it .

Unnerved but thirsty for the tea I went into the kitchen when it sprang on me

I fell back on a sack of rice by providence if not I would have hit my head 

I groped up and heard a meow

It was a cat 

Shook I just ran out ,heard a women calling to me

 saare chaaya vende ?

I ran to the gate .

I heard her telling her friend  .

Ayyalu chayya kudikkaan keriyatha

Early detection of Cancer

 

Cancer if detected early can be treated better and chances of cure are high too as it could be caught at an earlier stage .

The tests to detect cancer in normal individuals is called Cancer Screening .

The approved screening are for Colon cancer by  Colonoscopy and FIT stools ,Cervical Cancer  by Pap smears ,and Breast cancer by Mammograms 

Prostate cancer for high risk individuals by serial PSA  and Lung cancer by spiral CT for long term smokers .

There are strict guidelines for tgese with age for normal and high risk population .

In India unfortunately widespread population screening is a luxury 

At same time its misdone by many private hospitals as part of health packages foing Tumour markers etc which have no place in primary screening .

This is where US differs .

As seen they have Early Detection Institutes .

This is by the legendary M.D.Andersons Cancer center .
