Nagarahole National Park

2021 jan we drove to Mysore through Nagarahole tiger reserve and national park .

We stayed a day in a resort in Vythiri later went to Thirunelli temple and stayed one night there .

The next day morning through Tholpetty we entered Nagarahole national park .

Nagara means serpent

Hole is river

So its serpent river .

Its partly in Kodagu and Mysuru districts covering around 800 sq km and through Bandipur Tiger reserve connected to Eastern ghats and through  Brahmagiri wild life sanctuary the western ghats and these conections ,form a connecting habitat for elephants and tigers .,the Nilgiris Biosphere reserve .

Both Project Tiger and Project Elephant are very active in Nagarahole .

It became part of Project elephant in 2000 and part of Project Tiger in 20033 a core critical tiger reserve .

It has most tigers in our country after Kaziranga and Corbett reserves .

It has several river and rivulets abd two large lakes Kabini and Taraka reservoir .

We reached early in morning the checkpost of Nagarahole

We were instructed not to litter ,not to get down or stop on way go at reasonable speed and be careful .

We say plenty of deer  a peacpck some monkeys squirrel wil bull but no tiger or elephants .

Generaly they avoid roads inside reserve unless if essential .

Once on other side landscape changed into small villages unkempt shops houses with not even a decent tea shop till we reached suburbs of Mysore .

From Mysore where we stayed for two days we went to Coorg Virajpet to stay in Club Mahindra .

On return we went to Tellicherry from Virajpet by good road .
